The RAF at Buckingham Palace

Did you happen to see this, this morning?

The first flight is a Lancaster bomber, the main British bomber in World War Two, escorted by Hurricanes and Spitfires. Did you also notice the black and white stripes around the wings and fuselages of some of the planes? These were the recognitions stripes painted on all Allied aircraft for easy recognition during Operation Overlord, that’s how completely the Allies had won air superiority. These aircraft are from the “Battle of Britain” Flight.

They are followed by the Red Arrows, the RAF demonstration team.
