How about some real voter suppression BY the US government.
VA: Military absentee ballots going AWOL in 2012

With only 1,746 military voters in Virginia requesting absentee ballots so far this year — out of 126,251 service members in the state —the Military Voter Protection Project says the system has broken down.

this is pretty strange, I mean a 92% drop? Having done the absentee from overseas in ’08, I’m at a loss as to how this could have been engineered. Each and every command, at the smallest level, has a “voting officer” whose collateral duty it is to get the absentee ballot info out and generally encourage voting.
usually, the problem is at the state level, with the state voter bureaucracies failing to mail the requested ballots out in time to deal with the vagaries of APO/FPO.
Any ideas on how this 92% drop occurred? I mean, a sudden cultural attack of apathy, by virtue of poor leadership these past four years? Or did the military change their absentee voting program on a fundamental level?
Disturbing.

I don’t have any documentation at all, but I did see a report/comment. note/something like that, that it was difficult to find the appropriate officer/office this time, i think it was from Afghanistan. But your right, a 92% is just incredible. It’s very disturbing, that why I ran it without too much checking, maybe someone else has answers. I’d sure like some.
