Saturday Music and a Bit

I haven’t done one of these for a while, so I thought I would share some of my favorite music, with a little bonus at the end. I doubt anybody will be surprised that my first love in classical music was Wagner.

This was one of my favorites in High School band.

I’ve been a fan of Sir Georg Solti since he was with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and this one shows why. And yes, I will admit that for some years when I lived around Chicago I had season tickets at both the CSO and the Lyric Opera, some of the best money I ever spent.

And of course, one that aficionados of American war movies will easily recognize.

And this, of course. Another favorite from playing in the band.

But as we enter the week of our Lord’s Passion would be remiss not to mention that General Wallace’s novel was subtitled

A Novel of the Christ

And in what for me was the most moving scene of the movie

  1. Btw, my wife bought me a copy (a few years back) of Charlton Heston Presents The Bible, etc. (GT Publishing, New York, 1997). We love the movies, The Ten Commandments, and Ben Hur! How I miss living in Israel, and just seeing the Holy Land!

Btw, I am a guy for Mozart myself! 😉
