Well, I suppose I should say something about the Middle East, there is not a lot to cover. Here, this about does it.
For you young folks, that is the evacuation of the United States Embassy in Saigon in 1975. It happened because the Democratic majority in the US Congress refused to meet its treaty obligations to support our ally. We won that war too, and the South Vietnamese were not doing badly either, until they ran out of ordnance and we refused to sell them more, or provide the treaty-promised air support.
We threw away 56,000+ plus American servicemen killed that time plus wounded physically and mentally, the Australians and South Koreans also lost a fair number.
Our government has thrown away Iraq and Afghanistan in very much the same way. Anybody that tells you that the jackass party loves America and it’s soldiers is very simply a liar. They haven’t, at least since Truman, and maybe before.
And that doesn’t even begin to cover the mischief that Russia and China are up to.
And so we have again sacrificed our best and brightest for nothing, except maybe the formation of the Caliphate. At least not quite so many died this time. Although more will because of the traditional bungling and corruption of the Veterans Administration. Which no one in this administration has any intention of fixing (if it even can be).
Meantime, on our southern border a tidal wave of children are flooding into the country because the president promised them a free pass. We have made no preparation for this ‘unexpected’ influx. It’s unexpected only because nobody in Washington has eyes to see, or more likely they just don’t care. Soon we will have epidemics, the reports are already disturbing, and they are shipping these kids all over the country. Oh, and while the Border Patrol is baby-sitting, who exactly is guarding the border? Beuller? What’s a border?
Oh, Righteous Cause, for which we fought, And for which thousands died, We glory in it as we ought And point to it with pride. The Cause for which our fathers bled, In Revolution days, The right of self-defense instead Of treasonable ways. No "Cause" is "Lost" that has the right. Success is often wrong, Tho' seemingly it wins the fight. The honors still belong To those in failure or defeat, Who tried and did their best. As long as noble hearts shall beat Within a human breast. Was Russia right and Poland wrong Contending for its place. Among the nations, brave and long 'Till crushed by power base? The reverence all true Southrons feel, No foes can over-awe. For Cause that ever will appeal, With all the force of law. And yet we are today as true To country's flag as they, Who bore it then and wore the Blue 'Gainst those who wore the Gray.DUVAL PORTER
