Saturday Roundup

Saturday, again. Bill Whittle is not amused with the way the Middle East is going. I like Bill, because while I nearly always agree with him, he lays it out in a logical manner, like I wish I could do half as well. This one is no exception.

God knows, I’ve told Him enough, that I’m no fan of Uncle Joey Biden but, I have to admit he might make a better president than Obama, maybe in 2015?

Pushing ISIS to the gates of Hell, while not optimal, is surely better than managing them, I think.

My kind of girl, tough, self-reliant, and proud!

Mollie Hemingway, Senior Editor at The Federalist, tweeted about her kid’s school. Now that is a school I’d send a child to as well.

Laser Cannon! We’ve almost got a laser cannon guys! How awesome is that?

Read about it here. You know, this, like Israel’s Iron Dome, is a legacy of Ronald Reagan, himself. It’s a legacy of his hatred of Mutual Assured Destruction. That hatred led to the Strategic Defense Initiative (AKA Starwars) which is now coming to fruition. Yes there really will be Starship Troopers, someday, if we don’t throw our heritage away.

Peggy Noonan on Joan Rivers

joan_riversThere was nobody like her. Some people are knockoffs or imitations of other, stronger, more vivid figures, but there was never another Joan Rivers before her or while she lived. She was a seriously wonderful, self-invented woman.

She was completely open and immediately accessible. She had the warmth of a person who found others keenly and genuinely interesting. It was also the warmth of a person with no boundaries: She wanted to know everything about you and would tell you a great deal about herself, right away. She had no edit function, which in part allowed her gift. She would tell you what she thought. She loved to shock, not only an audience but a friend. I think from the beginning life startled her, and she enjoyed startling you. You only asked her advice or opinion if you wanted an honest reply.

Her intelligence was penetrating and original, her tastes refined. Her duplex apartment on the east side of Manhattan was full of books in beautiful bindings, of elegant gold things on the table, lacquered boxes, antique furniture. She liked everything just so. She read a lot. She was a doctor’s daughter.

  1. And btw, we should remind ourselves that Rivers was born: Joan Alexandra Molinsky, Jewish, and daughter of an immigrant Russian Jew. Rock On!

      • Yes, Netanyahu even mentioned her passing in a positive way. Btw, when see was young, she was pretty good-looking! 😉 Indeed one of a kind!

She was never bad looking, although that’s partly a tribute to plastic surgeons, and testimony that she was a bit insecure, likely. 🙂

        • Well I was speaking about when she was younger and didn’t need facial help. And insecurity is surely part of a fallen world for all of us… Beautiful or not! Though us old RMC’s don’t look at our insecurities, as much as our countries! 😉

Sure WAS. Still waiting to hear name of anesthetist in N.Y. office. I mentioned Ahab the Arab before.
P.S. Sarah Roman’s domain name expired, soon to be cancelled. If I were so inclined to do a blog I’d see about how to assume it. I mention ’cause I remember you liked the site too.

It be a good name to pick up, and yep, I did like her blog, and miss it sometimes. So many that were around when I started are gone, probably most of the one I read. Sad, but doing it is quite a challenge, really.

Well, yeah. Even commentators seem to burn out. But I’d think a conservative blog would be more like going to a family reunion, moderated of course,… even moderating the family reunion. 🙂
A prog/lib blog would be like asking what to do…”spit or swallow?”

It is but, so often there is just so much going on that one has trouble deciding what to write about, and then one wonders whether it is even believable, and sometimes it isn’t, always have to check.

Still it is fun as well, and I enjoy it (mostly!) 🙂

        • I must admit, I am not a real hard blogger, politically. My press is of course the religious one, or the Gospel of God! But, I am a sure conservative therein! But WE are loosing gents, sure and certain! Of course GOD wins in the end, ‘In Christ’, but it is the destruction of this age and world as we know it, unto a ‘New Creation’, but on this earth!

We could indeed end up a remnant in both the church and politically. But you know, I’m not so sure. Just a feeling but I doubt its worse than the late 30s or the regency period in England. No data at all, I’m just kind of confident that at some point our people will wake up and go, “WHAT?”.

You mean you need facts to write and post? Song lyrics…’Conjectural disinformation is just another phrase for Obama snorting though his nose’. Old song…Me and Barry Soetoro.
Dang, maybe I heard that over at the disenfranchised VH website. 🙂

        • Of course I hope your right? But, I am much more negative about sin and human nature! And I am a “Biblical” Zionist, Israel in its land, is the great precursor and harbinger to the End! (Zech. chap’s 12 -14) And of course this quite includes the great ‘Gentile Apostasy’ we are seeing now! And surely Paul spoke of this Apocalyptically, but certainly in great “revelatory” in 2 Thess. chapter 2, that great day of “rebellion” and “lawlessness”! (2 Thess. 2: 3-4). And as to people “waking-up”, note Matt. 25: 1-13, only “the wise” respond from within “regeneration” and life (“oil”). And btw, this is not just some kind of said, “theological” knowledge, but the life of Christ Himself “within”…The great knowing of the Saving Christ! (Always the “kerygma”, as Jesus Himself spoke about in the “kerygma” of Jonah in Luke 11: 32).
