Hump Day Pot Pourri

Some odds and ends today that have been hanging about but, never quite developed into full on posts.

Dan Hannan would like to know if the EU is why there is peace in Europe for the last few decades.

His points are valid, and yet I know some people that would answer with four words. The United States Army. Which may not be entirely fair but it ain’t entirely unfair either, I think.

Carly Fiorina would like to remind us that “titles are not accomplishments.”

She’s tight, of course. Carly is not my all time favorite candidate, mostly because I wasn’t all that impressed with her work at HP. but hey howdy, it was actual work and some accomplishments were made, the company is still around.

The Daily Telegraph has a nice article about the reenactors that stated the Battle of Waterloo on it 200th anniversary. It’s here: Portable loos and Belgian officiousness: When ‘war’ breaks out at the Battle of Waterloo, 2015.

And two articles from The Federalist on all the noise about the Battle Flag, both are good.

First: Congratulations! You Oppose The Confederate Flag. Now What?

and Second: Let’s Not Get Trolled On The Confederate Flag.

And finally, my friend Geoffrey Sales wrote this morning on AATW on what is going wrong in the Roman Catholic (as well as many others) Church. As always. worth your time: Buying and selling.

There a few out of the files and back out where you can enjoy them.

Growing up in the ’40’s and ’50’s we thought it was just the Rebel Flag. Of course I just a redneck from around Creosote Rd. pole soaking facility. 🙂

It’s too high pitched noise for me. If we all came from Lucy, then don’t we all deserve reparations?
And then let this man pay…http://www.ibtimes.com/3-million-year-old-ape-man-may-beat-lucy-earliest-human-forefather-1561885
Probably George Soros turned him in and got his money. 🙂

Stayed up late, well as far as commenting. You probably have seen article about banning the American flag. Why don’t we just hire ISIS to come blow up the Jefferson Memorial? Why not ban states that joined the Confederacy from the whatever nation we got now?

Yeah,. Can’t do that, they’re the productive ones, but we can abuse them all we want. Bite the hand that feeds you, go on, I dare ya! 🙂

Well, you’re right. Your area provides most of the feeds that supply us. Unless you like some seafood from my area sometimes. Of course salmon comes from the west as well. I speak of crab meat, snapper, scallops and shrimp. Then again lots comes from worldwide sources now. Actually scallops come from a cookie cutter technique cutting out stingray wings. Done it myself, not cutter, but skinning wings of a stingray of about 40 pounds and manually punching out the quarter to half dollar sized muscle which are separated by surrounding connective or fibrous tissue.
My eyes getting a bit old. I thought the sticker on the gas pump said “fuel contains Tylenol 10%. Just kidding. 🙂

I didn’t know that. I tend to like scallops but I won’t think of them the same way again. 🙂

Not saying all you buy or are served from this source. We able to harvest fresh scallops in my area. But in the commercial market…well…?
Anyway I never could tell the difference. Although we cooked them while having a few Pabst Blue Ribbons. 🙂

Not sure it makes a difference, as long as they taste the same 🙂 Out here it tends to be Bud, but either works!

Well it was in the old days, Pabst and before that Falstaff and Jax (New Orleans).
Been a while since I’ve done either, scallop gathering or fishing for anything. Ah, but the memories.
Enjoy your scallops where ever they come from. Thank heaven for little scallops(and all our blessings). 🙂

Yay! You remind me that when I went to college, there were more people in my dorm than there were in my home town! 🙂

Yeah and the bathroom on my floor had toilets side by side( I forget, six or eight), no partitions between. Howdy neighbor! Again long time ago and in South. It was gender selective though. 🙂

We did have side partitions- likely because it had been designed as a women’s dorm, ironing boards too (never did see one used!). The really neat thing was that the rooms had been designed by students in the school of engineering, and the furniture, while kind of boring, was extremely practical, you could do all sorts of weird tricks with it, and we did, all with no harm.
