Common Sense Knife Control, No, I’m Not Kidding.

Well, we’re still hearing about ‘common sense gun control’ not that there is anything common sense or control about what the left wants. What they want is to disarm civilians, a few of them even admit it these days. Nice of them to be honest.

London (and England) bought the hype decades ago, guns are all but banned there – to the point that their Olym[ic team cannot practice in the UK. And yet London’s murder rate is higher than New York’s. How can that be? From the London Times over the weekend. From Personal Liberty.

London overtook New York in murders for the first time in modern history in February as the capital endured a dramatic surge in knife crime.

Fifteen people were murdered in the capital, against 14 in New York. Both cities have almost exactly the same population.

London murders for March are also likely to exceed or equal New York’s. By late last night there had been 22 killings in the capital, according to the Metropolitan police, against 21 in the US city.

Eight Londoners were murdered between March 14 and March 20 alone and the total number of London murders, even excluding victims of terrorism, has risen by 38% since 2014.

So now they’re asking New York what to do.

“New York has been able to bring down serious violence through a public health approach,” Croydon Central MP Sarah Jones, who chairs a parliamentary committee on knife crime, told the BBC.

“We need a proper strategy that looks at all of the issues.”

But they won’t. They recently ended ‘stop and frisk’ because the police being sort of sensible, were searching the parts of the population that commit the most crimes, black and what the British call Asians, which really means Pakistanis (and Moslem Indians). If you, like me, remember how Guiliani cleaned up New York a couple of decades ago, the centerpiece was ‘stop and frisk’.

In other words, they are willfully blind to what the real problems are, just as it is in Chicago, where the goal is to make the corrupt rich, and nothing else really matters.

So what are they calling for? Common sense knife control. Nope, I’m not kidding.

From The Independent:
Patrick Green, CEO of anti-knife crime charity the Ben Kinsella Trust, fears the death toll “will get worse before it gets better”.

“There is no sign of these murders finishing,” he said. “Some of them are linked to postcode wars or gangs, some of them are unprovoked.

“There isn’t just one thing going on, which makes it really difficult coming up with a strategy to address it.” Mr Green warned that police operations can only contain knife crime in one area or displace it elsewhere.

“It comes down to one simple thing, we’ve got to stop young people carrying knives in the first place,” he added.

From the link:

As Tom Knighton over at Bearing Arms points out, this is precisely why control focused anti-crime policies are such nonsense.
He writes:

London has learned nothing. They’re still focusing on the weapon, but they can’t seem to escape that when they removed access to firearms, criminals simply adopted another weapon. Any “knife control” will simply push them to yet another weapon at best.

And that’s another takeaway from this. When we Second Amendment advocates claim that removing guns from the equation only presses the criminals to find other options, we’re not making this up. This is exactly what we see in London. No more guns? They go to knives.

Only knives aren’t ideal for self-defense. They favor larger, faster, and stronger attackers over the average man or woman who is out for a stroll. That means more victims. We can see this plain as day. What London is experiencing is what happens when you embolden the predators while disarming the prey.

Murderers do not obey laws.

It’s not the tool, its the fool holding it.

In fact, two people were shot in London last weekend. One of them was a seventeen-year-old girl killed in a drive-by shooting, by accident, they say. Welcome to Chicago on the Thames. It will only get worse.

And there is something else. I suspect most of us when we were young were involved in a fight of some sort, boxing, wrestling, even basketball. Remember how exhausting it was? How much chance does a 5’6, 100 odd pound girl, or a 70-year-old man, have against 4 or 5 guys with knives in that situation? Yeah, none at all. Only one thing can save her, or him, a gun. In other words, in London, neither has any chance at all. And that doesn’t even speak of the acid attacks that are increasingly common.

Sad really, a great historic city like that even with its no-go zones and gang violence, but completely unable to see that it is nothing but their own short-sightedness and political correctness that is making it too dangerous to visit.

And yet, I know many British conservatives of quite a few varieties, almost all of them have this same blind spot. They’ve become a nation of sheep, led by these guys.

Knife Control is using one hand with the pointer finger and thumb pressed firmly together just over the heel and forward of the bolster with the butt resting in slight upward pressure against the palm of your hand. Just sayin’.

    Knives…Whoooheee, love them!
With nothing else to do here lately… 🙂 Decided to make a scabbard for an old knife my boy left me. Decided if I put it in a scabbard on my belt I might not drop it as much in the brush and then spend an hour or two looking for it (last afternoon). Oh Shucks, just realized it’s fine quality Pakistanie stainless steel. So I can always use my magnet on a stick to find it. 🙂

Yep, not as much as guns, but knives are very cool. 🙂

Indeed, I’ve had some of that miraculous Stainless steel as well, the good part is that unlike US/UK stainless, it’s much easier to sharpen! 🙂
